You "might" need to complete a
one day course called MARCSTA for employment on a mine site in Western
Australia. Its a basic induction into the industry and procedures for
increasing safety in the industry. Cost normally around $99 to $150
dollars. Check first as some of the larger mining companies are providing their own indepth inductions and no longer requiring marcsta induction.

After completing the
course most employers will ask for you to do a drug test at your local
doctors but check with them as they will might organise and pay for
it. Also you will need a "Mine Employees Health Surveillance Card" ( MWHS )which
starts with a basic health check. This is
normally organised by your employer as well and paid for by them.
(if your lucky)
Before you go and
looking for a job in the mines, completing a Senior First Aid certificate is
very useful as some companies require it as part of the qualifications
for a position. Also getting your truck license (HR) is very handy to
increase your chances of employment and open more doors.
